The Big Picture: Why Aerial Shots Matter

Do I really need drone photos for my listing?

So, imagine we just grabbed a couple of coffees—large iced, obviously, because we’re on the South Shore and that’s practically mandatory year-round—and we’re sitting down to go over the marketing plan for your property. We get to the photography checklist, and you lean over and ask:

“Do I really need drone photos for my listing?”

It’s a totally fair question. Not every single house on the market needs to be shot from 400 feet up. But here is the honest answer I always give: If your property has a good chunk of land, a nice view, or a wicked great location, drone shots are the absolute best way to help buyers see the whole picture.

Here is why getting that bird’s-eye view can make a massive difference in getting buyers through your front door:

  • It shows off the actual footprint. Down here in Southeastern Mass, a lot of properties have deep, wooded backyards, sprawling lawns, or unique property lines that just don’t translate from the street level. A standard photo of your backyard just shows grass and maybe a fence. An aerial shot shows the entire plot, letting buyers see exactly how much space they are really getting and where the property actually ends.
  • It highlights a killer location. Are you a mile from the water? Do you back up to a cranberry bog, a state forest, or a really great neighborhood cul-de-sac? Buyers aren’t just buying the four walls of your house; they are buying the community. A drone shot can capture your house with the coastline or the local parks right there in the background, proving how great the location actually is.
  • It stops the Zillow scroll. Let’s be real, buyers are scrolling through listings on their phones at lightning speed while waiting in line at Dunks. A standard front-exterior shot is fine, but a sweeping, high-quality drone photo showcasing your whole lot? That makes them stop, click, and look closer.

If your home is tucked into a tight neighborhood with just a postage-stamp yard, standard interior and exterior photography is usually plenty. But if you’ve got something special on the outside, we need to show it off. Let’s finish our coffees, get the drone up in the air, and show everyone exactly why your property is the one they’ve been looking for.
